UTS goes fishing

It was a beautiful sunrise that greeted the gang in the pleasant and very calm surroundings of the Balmoral wharf. Little did we know that outside the heads was a huge swell that tested the stomachs of all onboard.

As usual the the yanks were the last to arrive (especially Steve) and were already complaining that 6am was too early to go fishing. New recruit, David Rowe and his girlfiend De-Ann, were very confident as we headed out, with Dave eating a sandwich and De-Ann saying that she was brought up on the sea and wouldn't be sick; famous last words.

It was a close call as who was the first to be sick, but it didn't matter too much, as by the end of the day most were feeling the effects of being tossed around. De-Ann ended up on a bed below deck slowly dying, Steffi held up the cabin, Zorba ensured that the railings didn't fall off with a death grip and Steve did a re-enactment of his farewell party last year.

It was such a surpise that with that much burley in the water that only 6 fish were caught. First catch of the day went to David Rowe and the biggest catch award went to Brian with a nice flathead.

As we arrived back on to dry and non-swaying land, we all had a laugh and said that we must do this again.

The only photos that were taken are either of the wharf or the boat tied to the wharf. Of the few photos that were taken is this one with Bruce saying to Zorba "Thus us what we use to catch fush." The smile would soon disappear from his face.
