Selection Criteria
Selections and grading for teams representing
UTS Hockey Club will be performed by a selection
panel as appointed by the Club Executive.
The selection panel will consist of a minimum
of 3 and should include the Club coach, Club captain
(or player representative) and the coach of the
team being considered.
Selections and grading of players will be based
on the degree to which they meet the selection
criteria (detailed below) and a majority agreement
of the selection panel.
Selection of players in all teams representing
UTS Hockey Club will be graded by the selection
panel based on the selection criteria.
New players - women's
Members who are new to the club (i.e. in their
first season with UTS Hockey) who are not selected
in 1st or 2nd grade as a result of the selection
process will most likely be directed to play in
the Development Teams playing in the Sydney North
WHA Competition.
Missed training or games
Players who have missed a game or training may
be dropped a grade. During competition rounds,
priority will be given to players who have demonstrated
commitment through attendance and effort
It is expected that all first grade squad players
will attend two (2) training sessions a week.

1. Performance - quality of player
a. Training
i. Skill execution
ii. Effort
iii. Ongoing fitness assessments
b. Games & fixtures
i. Positional play
ii. Game understanding including tactics and strategy
c. High fitness level
2. Commitment - attendance
a. Turf training
b. Fitness sessions
c. Additional training sessions (such as skill/academy/video
sessions)
3. Attitude - On and off field player conduct
a. Towards and with team mates
b. As a representative and member of UTS Hockey
Club
c. Towards the game of hockey
4. Financial status
a. Un-financial members as at July 1 each year
will not be permitted to take the field
