It was so close for our womens 1st Grade team in the MetroLeague Div 1 Grand Final yesterday, losing an extremely tight match 1-0 to Briars. For two great attacking teams, it was an amazing defensive display that kept the fans in awe throughout the afternoon. Briars enjoyed the better run of the game, but were repeatedly repelled by a magnificent defensive unit. It was only from a well-taken penalty corner early in the second half that Briars grabbed the decisive goal.
Well done to the team and coach Paul Kelly for reaching the final in only their first season in the top league - a truly remarkable achievement. Of note also is that the UTS womens 1st grade team has now reached the grand final in their division FOUR YEARS IN A ROW, and have earned proomtion from Div 3 to Div 1 during that time. Well done again!!
