ATTENTION UTS STUDENTS!!
Australian University Games this year will be held from 23 - 28 September on the Gold Coast, Queensland. This is during mid-semester break (VC Week).
UTS Hockey will be sending a mens and womens team, and support staff. Each team has a 16 player squad.
Due to the recent abolition of VSU the costs this year might be higher compared to previous years. An approximate cost breakdown would be :
approx $550 for Accommodation, Registration and Social Pass
approx $300 for flights
approx $60 - $100 per day for sundries (food,booze etc)
so expect that the trip will cost upwards of $1000.

Early indications of interest suggest that we will have to hold trials to select mens and womens squads in early August.

University Games is upon us for 2007!
Any current UTS Students are eligible to compete.
The format of Uni Games has changed this year. For the past 15 years or so, we had to finish in the top 5 at the Aus-East Games, in order to earn a place at the Australian Uni Games (AUGs) later in the year.
This year, every Uni can compete at the AUGs, as most other states are not holding State-level games. The AUG comp will be played in 2 divisions, based on placings from previous years.
However in NSW, there will still be a State level comp, called the "East Coast Challenge" (ECC). This year it is being hosted by UNSW, and will be held from July 1-4, together with other sports such as Badminton, Basketball, Soccer, Touch Football, Volleyball and Waterpolo.
Regardless of how we perform at the ECC, we will be sending teams to the 2007 AUGs being held on the Gold Coast, from September 23 to 28.
Costs:
For ECC, cost for entry fee and social uniform, is $100 for Advantage Programme Members, and $150 for non-members. (With the Games being held in Sydney, we may look at arranging a central accommodation package for our hockey teams).
For Gold Coast, the indicative price is $500, plus transport.

Nominations are due NOW!! Please email the respective manager below if you are interested in one of both of the events. If we have more than 16 players per team, we will arrange trials to decide the final squads.
UNI GAMES is a wonderful event, and forms an important part of UTS Hockey Club's history and traditions. Every first year student is urged to nominate, to enjoy the experience, fun and friendships of University Sports!!!
