UTS 1st Grade Women's match report

It was with much anticipation that we all began to travel to Bankstown for the clash with Glebe last Sunday. This was an important game and after such a stirring training session the Tuesday before everyone was at fever pitch to do well.

We all arrived at about the same time, 45 minutes before the game. BH was playing Briars and playing very well, we all watched and studied the teams structure as this was our next opponent.

With 35 minutes to go, Paul super coach called us together for a team discussion in the dressing room. This was where we received the strategy for the game and the overall tactics to be employed. Various positional changes were outlined as was a assessment of UTS 1 chances for the year now we moving to round 4.

All team members left the team discussion full of confidence knowing that a solid win would place UTS 1 into the top 4 and possibly into 3rd place....the girls could not wait to hit the field.

Game started positively for UTS with solid control and bal/stick management by all the girls. Sustained pressure from all players allowed little forward movement by Glebe. Out powerful striker Nadine scored our first goal off our second short corner with Jessica Davidson scoring a super goal shortly after with a solid deflective hit leaving the Glebe keeper no chance. Glebe from the re-start attacked early managed to strike through and our young keeper Renata had to save and clear which she did with class. From then on it was all UTS with Nadine scoring again, Ruth scoring two scorchers from close in to seal a solid win.

Super coach Paul applauded the girls performance as did Manager Tony as the strategy and tactics were beautifully carried out by the team overall!
